Hello
I would really appreciate it if someone could shed some light onto why when I plugged in my external harddrive after increasing its memory, I could feel a stong magnetic force coming from it. I'm not joking - as soon as i plugged it in it was as if its was a big magnet opposing the force of another magnet. Very strange indeed - have asked computer expert and he's never come accross this. thanking you in advance Jo |

Could it just be the centrifugal force of the rotating disc's, or did paper clips come flying over and stick to it?

OK OK
let me clarify - i didnt increase memory, i put a bigger harrddrive in the casing. and 'felt it' meant - crazily - it behaved like a magnet - like when u hold two magnets together, you can 'feel' the repelling forces - except there wasn't another magnet so has anyone come accross this before, know why it happens? wont be plugging it in til i get some answers...this HD has been a nuisance ever since i got it....and now the blasted thing's possessed! |

... humans can't experience magnetic forces. and for there to be an opposing magnetic force like you are describing there must be two magnets with the same poles being pushed together.
i'm still confused as to what you are saying. when you put your hand near it, you feel it? or it falls over from repelling your hand lol |

It seems like your describing the disks being eccentric, which would be wierd and unlikely. Just plug it in and see what happens.
