Default Feedback on Dual GPUs

Would like to know the cold hard facts on what people think about running two graphics cards. Motherboards that have two PCIe x 16 slots obviously are more expensive than those with one slot. Also to mention that you have to buy a second Video card in order to run Crossfire or SLI. Is all of this really worth it for a gaming system?

Note: I, like most people, do have a regular price range so $$$ is the main issue here. Thanks guys..

IMO, The money to performance ratio if SLI is not worth it. Price wise, it's better to get a really good card than two lesser ones. I heard that's what a lot of people are saying now too.

That's if your using two cards run independently (for multi-display setups for example). SLI was programmed for optimizing two NVIDIA cards (like crossover for ATI) to run intense graphics to one monitor, therefor there's rarely any issues with SLI or Crossover. Unless someone uses two different cards (most cases, the faster card will slow down to the same speeds as the slower card so it does work anyway) or, of course, if someone doesn't know what they're doing.

I have 2 7900s... increased my framerate... but its better to go one G92 Gts..
I always thought well if this card has 16 pipelines, double it WOA 32 pipes! doesnt work like that but does increase FPS... If your gona 2 cards go crossfire
