Default New Build Problem - Freezing

Hey, I just built a new computer and I am having some problems.
First, the specs:
Asus p5n-e SLI
Intel Q6600
Crucial Ballistix 2x1gb @ 4-4-4-12 2.2v
Evga 8800GT
Seagate 500gb 32mb cache
Asus optical
Vista home premium 32bit

The problem I am having is that the computer keeps freezing.. It has froze in chkdsk once, and once in memtest86+... but it always freezes when im trying to do something in vista... I can't get anything done because it freezes so fast.

When it freezes, it is still running but very very very slow... for instance, I can move the mouse... and about 1 minute later, the mouse will move on the screen a bit.

I have ran memtest86+ a lot and havent got an error yet.
I have ran a complete chkdsk and no errors were found.
I have tried switching memory slots / sticks.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Replace memory due to a faulty chip?

Seeing as you've gone through this stage, do you really think it's the OS? I say memory. If it freezes Memtest86... Memory. Like mine Turns out after I used a GOOD stick...:

My hard drive diagnostic passed.
Chkdsk could run.
Memtest86 could scan.

ugh thats what I was afraid of =(

Think it could be possible my ram is overheating?

I just shut down my computer and unplugged it and everything then took out one stick.. it felt pretty warm.. not hot.. but warmer than I'd think RAM would get.. maybe I'm wrong.

But ya.. I've been getting Long single beeps today.. Just read thats a RAM problem =( I guess I'll RMA through newegg
