Default Intel stock fan broken?

This is really annoying me. When I turn on the intel stock fan and try to install vista, it runs for a while. About a minute later, the fan starts slowing down and eventually shuts off. Had to shut down the computer in the middle of installation. It's a socket 775 intel fan on an E6750. Do you guys have any idea what could be happening?

Sounds like the setting in the BIOS might be set for it to go off when the temperature is below a certain level... I would check that first and if nothing is found there, I would install a new cooler. The stock coolers are crap anyway... I have noticed a lot of improvement in noise level with the Core 2 Duo's coolers though
