What is the world's fastest processor available as of December 2007?

Sometimes scientists make things alot harder than they need to. All they've gotta do is put a big spring on the ground where they think it's gonna land, or send a mission to the moon to erect a sign that says "Welcome to Earth".

The fastest CONSUMER CPU would be the QX9650, and Intel plans to release the QX9770 in the first quarter of 2008.

I'm not sure if it's the world's fastest processor though. The IBM eServer Blue Gene Solution is located at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and has a total of 212,992 CPUs total. So I guess that doesn't exactly count as one CPU, but it's still a beast of a machine. I'm sure that thing could play Crysis.

No, I tried yesterday. I got 40 FPS on lowest settings.

Have to find a way to dedicate a couple CPU's to graphics....
