Default Overclocking my pc?

I was wondering what pieces in the pc can be overclocked? Also If I buy a new computer, is there any trustable sites that show you how to overclock? Or anyone here on this forum?

People also say if I do something wrong with overclocking, it could mess up that specific product and it would never work again, is that correct? If so, how can you mess up oc?
