Default ATiTool 0.27 Beta1, Vista, 2900XT

Just wondering, is anyone using ATiTool 0.27 with vista? I tried an earlier version ages ago and ended up doing a clean install. If anyone is using it, are you able to do any voltage mods within the program? Cheers.

Why would you use B1? They have 0.27 Beta4 out.

Anyways, I do have 0.27 B4 and I use it under Vista with my 2900XT, however you aren't able to overclock with it (easily I should say). So I use RivaTuner for the actual overclocking, and ATI Tool for the artifact scanning.

As for changing the voltage, I know you can using ATI Tool and the 2900XT because I did it before in XP, however I never noticed an overclocking improvement, but then again I didn't do a whole lot of tweaking with the voltages.

Sorry, I meant to put Beta 4. I just want to see if I can get the core over 900, but don't really want to mess about with any bios mods. So I would be able to change voltages with ATiTool, right?

I have my doubts about getting over 900, I can't seem to get over 850, and it wasnt until recently that I could get over 828.

ATI Tool does have the option to raise/lower the VCore and Memory voltages (as well as a few others).

I have had mine up to 876 without going over 60c, managed to run 3dmark but crashed a few seconds before ending. Do you know what the default vcore is for the 2900, I thought it was 1.15 but some people say it's 1.00, any idea?

The temperature isn't the issue, it's that the GPU isn't stable at those high clock speeds at the stock voltage.

I don't know the stock voltage as I haven't really looked into it before, but I'm sure you can find out on AMD's website.

an overclocking voltage commonly used is 1.43 volts, or thats what many people seem to be using.

Well, I tried it, upping the vcore didn't make much difference at all. I could not even reach 876 which I had before. I think I'm just gona stick with 843/1900. 1.43 volts would have been way to high any way. A few places I looked, people were using 1.5 but that was with liquid nitrogen! Thanks anyway you two. Omega, helpful as always.

You're welcome

I'm not 100% sure that ATI Tool even raises the voltage correctly, because it should allow for a greater overclock. Although it seems like both you and I haven't had any luck with raising the VCore with ATI Tool, so I'm just living with my 842 overclock.
