Default ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 - Does this need Paste?

I just ordered this heatsink and I notice it looks like it has a grey pad on it on the bottom, but it does not say either way on the instructions. The installation instructions do not say anything about applying paste though so I assume this is a pad?

You don't have too, but if you want the AS5 which is a little better then you do.

Sometimes scientists make things alot harder than they need to. All they've gotta do is put a big spring on the ground where they think it's gonna land, or send a mission to the moon to erect a sign that says "Welcome to Earth".

I was reading about this and a fair amount of people said the stuff that comes on the Freezer 7 is better then AS5 in some ways. I just used the stuff that came on mine and my temps are pretty low. Speedfan says my CPU is 30c and Core0 and Core1 are 13c.. Anyone know the difference from CPU temp vs Core0 and Core1 temp? Is CPU temp the core0 and core1 temp added together or something?

They are not added together. It is a common problem for speedfan to read the core temperatures wrong. Just go with the cpu temperature.
