Default ideas on my limits anyone have a oc 4000+

well ive been tweaking my new system (ore i should say one of my new systems ) i had been running a ecs geforce 6100m-m motherboard and with my 3600+x2 i was not able to bump my fsb over 205 without problems, well now i went sli with my 2 8600 gt's. and picked up a 4000+ x2 and a gigabyte sli board (man i luv this board) well on the 4000+ im already up to 226 fsb and running verry stable, and with reasonable temps(im not to shure about speed fan i liked my hmointor but cant seem to get it to work )

im just wondering if anyone els has a brisbane core 4000+ and what is everyones exp with these cpu's (since i dont trust speed fan im not going crazy yet)what can i expct for a overclock on this cpu

btw im running a scythe katana 2 heatsink with a 100 mm fan ,+ 2 120 mm case fans

and one more ? anyone got any links to some low profile 80 mm led case fans with my heatsink i can use any of the fans i have here for my side fan i am attching a pic of what im talking about

here is my pc spec test

well i guess 226 is where i hit a wall thats sucks on my other cheap ecs board i could change the ht but on this one it only aloows for a ht voltage change what can i do to break the 226 fsb mark i tried 230 and no post and same with 228 i tried to up the cpu voltage to 1.32 (stock was 1.3 )and that didnt help my temps are good still around 31 idle 42 load (prime 95 as a load) any ideas

again thanks in adv all

I've only dabbled with OC'ing once and I hit 4112 mhz on a Pentium D. No idea how stable it was, but it loaded XP and several programs

There are plenty of OC'ers here, so don't worry - someone with lots of exp. will pop in with some advice

BTW, what Distro you use?

Set your HT back to X4 and put your ram at 667 and start raising the bus till it gets unstable and back off some or if your cool with raising the CPU voltage up, bump it up alittle and see if you can go any higher. But keep a check on your CPU temps.

thanks im well ahead of u on that

i was having trouble finding my ht settings on my gigabyte mobo but in anothe rforum i was sent to a link of a pic of the bios and boom it says press controll f1 and wam im in the advanced chipset screen

that was my real hold back (that and ram settings )

but now i have reached a descent clock

im running
1.37 volts
262 fsb
ram set to 400 mhz(id like to run it higher but it wont boot at 533 (cpuz is reading my ram at 250 mhz id like to be higher but im still benchmarking verry well)
i have my ht set to 4x
so i have a pretty healthy 2.75 ghz cpu now when i started with a weak 2.1 ghz cpu
add that to my 2 oc'ed 8600gt's in sli (oc from 540/700 to 644/856 )
id say my pc is pretty well set to do just about anything a can throw at it (let me know if im wrong lol )

i ran pcpittest on it and im womping all other cpus with simular mhz in the m.i.p.s department but again my ram is suffering
my pit test
http://www.pcpitstop.com/techexpress...P4SWQ38LVSYDUV

im running a good(or at least i think so correct me if im wrong)35-37 c on full prime95 load after 30 min with no errors (i had went to 264 fsb but got an error on one core aboput 7 mins into the test)

here is mu cpuz dump
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=284434

and a final ? is the heat issue a direct result of upping the voltage of does the actual oc affect temps also (im wondering because im on the limits of my temps) but i could still boost my voltage to 1.4 as long as upping the fsb wont affect he tems and its just the voltage

Thats a pretty good OC, you should use Prime 95 (orthos) to check for stability.

Yes the temps will raise faster buy upping the voltage compared to raising the MHZ
