Default Computer Build discussion

So I'm doing another computer build in the upcoming months. I decided I'm going to get creative and create the case out of plexiglass (mostly). It's not going to be anything crazy. Basically it will function as a media server for my home network so I'm going to get a couple big hard drives and set them up in RAID. Other than that, it may be used for basic internet/word processing stuff, so I don't need any crazy computing power.

Basically what I'd like to hear from you folks is what other components would be more important and what is really needed. I don't necessarily have a budget, but the cheaper the better (without losing too much quality). I quickly browsed through newegg for some parts and pricing and came up with the following specs:

~2.0 GHz AMD AM2 socket
AM2 socket mobo with the basics (video adapter a necessity, I don't need an extra vid card)
1GB cheap ram
either 2 500GB HD's in RAID, or 1 TB for now and get another later to set up in RAID.
350W PS
DVD RW drive (already have)

Thoughts? I'm just looking for any input. Thanks!

The custom case will prolly be kinda hard to do yourself unless you have previous experience doing that kind of thing. You'll most likely have to order HDD cages and learn the specs. for ATX mobo screw holes, PSU screw holes, etc.

350W won't cut it... and that much GB won't help because of the rather low RAM...

I don't see the use in using a TB hard drive with a kinda budget computer. I wouldn't use anything over 200Gb.

he is using it as a video server or something and therefore needs all that space. its not a normal home pc.
