If your a gamer, you will need windows vista just because in the future you will need dx 10, wether you get it now or later thats just up to you. Spend 100 now and get xp and 200 later to get vista, or spend 250 now and get vista.

Default vista???

My room mate plays a lot of games on his new lap top and has had a lot of issues with vista. It is common knowledge that any new windows os that comes out usually takes about 3 yrs and several service packs before it actually becomes good.....yay!!! we have a new os.... let's release it and beta test it in the market.....eventually it will be a good os. unless there is a drastic improvement in graphics.... I would stick with xp for another year. Why not wait for vista to become the best it can before using it.

250? couldn't you just buy an oem version for 100-150? my main problem with vista was the slow startup and shutdown times but i used vista manager to speed those up and i have noticed a significant difference.

the fact is eventually vista will become the norm so you may as well get it now and get used to it. i also feel that networking is much more user friendly on vista than xp

I have Vista Business (see Sig), but sometimes i get problems just doing simple things, it takes long, when i take a look at start-up it takes forever, to think only 4 programs are loaded
but regarding the OS acting strange due to viruses, that i haven't seen yet.
but vista right now ? not worth it, it will when the SP's are official and go to go, from there we can convert

I've got a 3800 AMD 64X2 dual core processor
250GB hard drive
Nvidia 6150LE GEforce graphics card
4 gb of memory

With this Vista Home Premium runs like absolute garbage! It freezes constantly, isn't compatible with anything, has a huge lack of support, and has been an absolute nightmare!! XP I MISS YOU!

DO NOT BUY!!! BUYER BEWARE!!

Ive never heard about hot beer before, but everything else is excellent. And I am British.

I have also got to say, ive been running Vista for a year and never once had a problem. I love how quick it is also, everything runs faster on vista
