Crap...I wonder where this Thread will lead...

Anyway, there are two ways to ask that question. The first is "This is what I use my computer for... ... 'Would I be better off using XP or Vista, or Other?" The second is "Do the people who use Vista experience a lot of problems?"

As far as a simple 'worth it', you'll have people filling up this Thread in no time at all giving different opinions that, if history has taught us anything, will be rather nasty at times.

I dislike using Vista both personally and professionally (self-owned computer repair business). When I have to deal with it, I find it clunky compared to other OS's and previous versions of Windows. Thankfully, most of my Clients use XP or Others. Personally, Vista will never touch my any of my family's systems.

Well the main reason im getting vista is for dx10 im a big pc gamer and the difference i thought was noticeable in the graphics. I have heard bad things about vista as well but also good things. Just wanted to find some people who are gamers out there who can tell me if dx10 is worth getting vista?

I personally think Vista is wonderful. I can understanding not upgrading an older PC that works fine with XP to Vista, but I can't imagine why anyone would put a 5+ year old OS on a brand new PC.

Lol same here, probably some huge debate over 50 pages long!

On topic:

It all comes down to what your computer specs are. Also take a look at this thread:

Vista in my opinion is the best piece of software I've ever owned. Computer Shopper UK edition Dec 07 said it was the best Operating System EVER and I love it. You do need 1 to 2 GB of RAM though to run efficiently.

But the Brits also like hot beer, kippers, the spice girls and blood pudding. So go figure!

In it's current form, vista is not ready for the average user. There are driver problems, hardware problems and software problems. Once SP2 comes out, it might be worth it. It might take another year or 2 before it is up to XP's standard.
