Uninstall all the codecs you have, install K-lite Mega codec pack and uninstall your driver and install your latest drivers. That should do the trick.

i was using vlc. nothing was working. the audio plays and the video is running, but no picture whatsoever.

i'll try k lite and report back. i think that's the only codec bundle i haven't tried yet.

nope, quicktime, vlc, winamp, media player, etc. nothing works. audio plays, no video is displayed, even with k-lite. what the hell could the problem be?

okay so i uninstalled all the CRAP that the ati disk came with and reinstalled latest drivers only from their website (not the other crap), then i did the k-lite codec pack and all the videos work now.

the error was somewhere in that ati stuff i believe, since the codec pack by itself did nothing.

so with the radeon card, where do you change vertical sync and aa settings and stuff? i was told to use riva tuner to turn the fan up on the 3850 but i had that installed and then read it was for nvidia...so that might also be a contribution to why the videos weren't playing. anyway, what can i use to turn the fan on the 3850 up? thanks.
