Do you currently have any other antivirus programs installed? If so, uninstall them before installing Norton.

What's the error it's giving?

It's possible that an infection present on your machine is preventing the installation. If you post a HijackThis log, we can see if that's the case:

To do so download the HijackThis installer from http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en...HJTInstall.exe.

Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

When the Notepad window opens choose Edit -> Select All to select the entire log, and copy and paste the log into a reply post.
Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

one norton is the bigest piece of computer software crap ive ever seen

a better choice is avg anti malware its a anti virus and anti spyware program in one better bang for your buck

go to http://www.grisoft.com find the download section of the menu bar click it and it will take you to the free editions off all that avg has to offer.

find avg anti malware 7.5 download and install it and your set to go

and then when you decide you like it go back to their web site buy a license and youll get the full edition with a few more options i did this and i love it.

you schedule scans and it takes care of all the viruses and spyware it finds
