Default About to build new system

I have been struggling lately about which way to go in upgrading my system. Here are three options that I'm thinking about. Please feel free to advise on any changes you think would be better.
Option 1 = Keep current mobo , buy a Q6600 or E8500 cpu and 2 (8800Gt cards)
Option 2= Buy 780I mobo, Q9450 , and 2 ( 8800Gt cards)
Option 3 = Buy a P35 or X38 mobo , Q9450 cpu, and either 1 8800gts ( G92 card) or 2 HD 3870 Ati 's for CF on the X38 mobo.I'm staying with my DDR2 memory for now.So having listed the options please help. I 'd also like to wish everyone here at the Forum a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Thanks for your reply, thats kinda what I was thinking . It's getting too darn expensive to keep buying two video cards as fast as they change. Which would be better the P35 or X38 mobo? The system will be for gaming and overclocking, the rest just general pc stuff.

p35 is more cost effective but if you want all the fancy features of the x38 go for it, from what i've read it is very much worth it

X38 supports 45nm's natively and has PCI-E 2.0, and DDR3. That's basically all it has over the P35's

I can understand why you need to upgrade your GPU, but not the CPU or mobo for now. Why not wait to upgrade these, I'm sure there won't be an awefully big difference in doing that upgrade.

What are you using your computer for anyway ?

Actually both P35 and X38 chipsets support both DDR2 and DDR3 versions (not both at once).

I would go with the X38 unless you are looking for a budget board, since the cheapest X38 is about $220.

I use the computer for gaming and overclocking ,then just general stuff after that. As for the DDR3 , I 'll be staying with my DDR2 until the prices and timings become better on the DDR3.I stuck at the crossroads right now in trying to determine how much performance I'd lose if I go with one 8800GTS (g92 ). Price wise I think I'd better off with a X38 board , one 8800GTS (G92 ) card and the quad when it comes out . I fairly sure the X38 would give less problems than the 780I and from then on I'd only have to buy 1 GPU when I upgrade instead of 2 every time.
