Default archive backup

im talking about an incidental backup. I used to do it from dos years ago. now im
not doing it at all. from dos i always had a backup directory before windows. i would use xcopy s/e/v/w/m then i would reset the archrive bit on the orginal backup. I have many pictures, utilitys, word documents and the backup takes place about every 2 to 3mo's. any small utility's that will do this?

that leads to another question?
getting rid of duplicates based on name and size.
i have a cluster mess with directorys and sub directorys.
its getting out of control and having a hard time cleaning house and keeping it in order.
