Default Print queue won't delete.

I just tried printing a few things and the first one wouldn't print, not sure why. So, I deleted everything in the print queue...except that the one that wouldn't print in the first place now won't delete. I cannot put my laptop into standby (which is a problem for obvious reasons), and when I do it says "The service 'Print Spooler' is preventing the machine from entering standby. Try stopping this service and try again" with an "OK" button at the bottom of the box. The box also stays on top of any other windows.

I have tried restarting, shutting down, powering off without going to 'shut down' (just holding the power button). It's still there.

Any ideas how to delete this one item from the print queue?

have you put your printer to "use printer offline" so that it grays out.
now delete the queue.
if that doesn't work, just put any printer around as default and delete the queue on the original printer.

hope it helps, cause thats what i do most times

Default

First go to Start > Run and type in services.msc

In the services, disable the print spooler service.

Then, in My Computer, navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS folder. Delete everything in there.

Go back into services.msc snapin and restart your print spooler.
