Default Need some help going from Vista back to XP

Back in February of this year I bought a new Compaq Presario Model Number SR2180NX - came preloaded with Vista. Tomorrow I want to go back to XP..because Vista is really driving me nuts as of late. I looked online for my model number at the Compaq site..and all they have is drivers from Vista.

Is there ANYWAY I can reformat and still be able to download my drivers for my Compaq computer..? I need to go back to XP!

Thanks for all of your responses!

You should make darn sure that you can download and save XP drivers for all your hardware before you reformat with XP. Many newer PCs were designed and built with Vista in mind and never had XP drivers released. If you can't find XP drivers, you may be screwed.

I think that more then sums things up! That's quite correct. You first want to look over the support section at the HP/CompaQ site before making a big one there. And that would be precisely the problem since the support site shows only Vista at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...=documentIndex

Or, you can look for drivers for the parts individually, not just from HP but google might have them. Try DriverGuide.com.

Get used to it vista has been here for more then a year and a lot of manufacturers are no longer supporting xp for drivers... Unfortuinately compaq is one of the early jumpers they and toshiba are using primarily vista only hardware now. Dell is still using a lot of older things so they still use xp capable hardware. Be very careful i have had at least 10 pc's people have tried to go back to xp only 1 i was able to get running xp successfully since about october and people had to go back to vista becuase they just didnt want to struggle.. Also what about vista annoys you?

The lack of XP drivers seen right there on the support clearly shows that "none" were written for XP period! That's a new 2007 model that apparently came out only following Vista's relase. If it had been out in Dec. of 2006 it would have to see XP driver support as well as now seeing that for the new version. Expect to see more new systems other then Dell trending towards Vista.

What I expect to see is that more vendors are going to go back to XP. To many people hate and do not want Vista.

And since the graphics cards people are not supporting vista worth a damn, I think they are snubbing their noses at Microsoft and letting them know they do not like their tactics.

Remember when ME came out? Most new systems had it installed, but after a very short time they all went back to win 98 on their installations.
