Hi, basically someone I know has installed some spyware into my computer. The reason why I know this is because they emailed me recently quoting words from an email I had sent to some for work, via Yahoo mail.
I've also had other things happen that makes me suspect this is the case. I purchase Kasperspy and did a check, and several things came up. One, there was a this note: deleted: riskware not-a-virus:Monitor.Win32.WinSpy.88 File: C:\WINDOWS\msfont.exe This note: deleted: riskware not-a-virus:Monitor.Win32.WinSpy.88 File: C:\System Volume Information\_restore{202550A8-7A33-4BCA-9586-051D24DDBF8F}\RP241\A0111763.exe But also, while running checks this dialogue boxes saying particular files are 'password protected' keep coming up (for three files I think) Two of them are: C:\System Volume Information\_restore{202550A8-7A33-4BCA-9586-051D24DDBF8F}\RP210\A0092918.exe//WiseSFXDropper//WISE0028.BIN and C:\System Volume Information\_restore{202550A8-7A33-4BCA-9586-051D24DDBF8F}\RP210\A0092917.exe//WiseSFXDropper//WISE0029.BIN and the third ends with WISE0041.BIN/VSOPropConst.vbs. (sorry, I couldn't copy the whole thing for some reason) Could someone please tell me what these files are and why they are password protected? One of the deleted files above was simliar, and I'm just wondering how I should go about deleting these 'password protected' files if they are a threat? Hello!
Please, run HijackThis again and choose Do a system scan only. Place a check on these lines:
Now, as you have checked that files, please click Fix and then agree to continue to permanently delete that files from your computer. However, it will not remove all of them completely. Now, please press Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore. There choose SystemRestore Settings and check Turn off SystemRestore. Please don't reboot your computer yet, as you have to do one more thing. After all is done, download Spybot Search and Destroy from http://spybot-download.net/ Install and run! Now when you ran Spybot and when you have Removed all objects found, please reboot your computer and post a frech HijackThis Log.

A few comments, if I may.
Kaspersky is reporting that it has deleted the keylogger, and since it isn't appearing in your log I have no reason to doubt that. Nonetheless, if you do any online banking I would suggest immediately changing all those passwords, as they may have been compromised while the keylogger was installed on your PC. GameMaster, be aware that you cannot check Running Processes in a HijackThis log for removal. Not sure why you're suggesting removing Yahoo, it's legitimate... Also, If you're going to suggest disabling System Restore to clean infected Restore Points, also mention that it must be re-enabled afterwards. Clearing System Restore is best done as the last step in a fix, once you're certain the system is clean, since if any problems occur during the cleaning stage, an infected Restore Point is better than none at all. ajenow, as I've already said, the keylogger appears to be gone, but I would suggest changing all your passwords. There are a couple of things that I would suggest removing, however. Your logfile shows that you have Viewpoint Manager installed. Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything bad. It is known to be intrusive, but there is some possibility that it is now being used by those companies to give them info about your habits. It is not considered spyware since this is not clear, but I would not tolerate it on my machine if I didn't install it. I suggest you remove it. To do so, click on Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs. Click on Viewpoint Manager and click Remove. Please run HijackThis and choose Do a system scan only. Place a check next to the following entries:
Please reboot and post a new HijackThis log.
