Default changeing xbox 360 NAT settings

i got an xbox 360 for x-mas
but my NAT is set to moderate so it take longer for me to find games
and my friends is set to strict so i cant play him

so my question is how do i change my nat settings to open
( i assume these a router settings?)
i have a Belkin 802.11b router and im am using a wierd connection to 2 desktops and my 360 and wireless for a laptop
i am also useing avg firewall if that has anything to do with it

i have searched on the net but i cant find anything that i understand
so your help would be much appreciated

thanks
