I opened up my case, applied new thermal grease, and added some fans to my GeminII heatsink. It lowered my temps by twenty degrees. I had to take out my motherboard, take out all my cards, and rewire everything though, and now I'm not getting any sound.
Normally I just plug in a cable from my speakers to my computer. The speakers work with other stuff, but I don't think my computer is outputting sound. I'm pretty sure I put everything back together correctly, so could it be software based? Do any programs disable sound or sound drivers? Could my motherboard's sound device be damaged? Any ideas on what's wrong?

Are you using the front sound ports? If you are... Probably you didn't plug it in correctly.

I've tried both, and I double checked that I did plug it in correctly. Would moving around PCI cards do anything? I think I put my PCI cards in different slots on accident and windows installed drivers when I booted up.

Is your sound card a expansion one or onboard?

It's onboard. I figured it out though. I moved around my PCI cards, then fiddled with drivers and settings. Somehow it worked after I set my speakers to default. I never undefaulted them though. It was weird.

Probably a hardware conflict or IRQ conflict of some sort...
