Did not know if this is the correct area to post this. My friend has a Compaq 2002 pc which I did a clean install using the recovery cd provided by Compaq. After finishing installation the anti-virus programs keep finding a trojan virus that when removed it makes windows act up. Xp will not let you open programs. Can an OS disk have a trojan from the beginning? What can I do

My original eMachines install had the Sasser virus preinstalled when starting it for the first time. Something to do with RPC (Remote Procedure Call) or similar.
Have you tried to run the anti-virus program in Safe Mode and remove it then? Tom
