Default Building gaming rig( 1000$ Budget)

Hey guys, im a complete noob to this, but i want a nice rig and i can spend around 1000, and if i wait 2 months, maybe 2000 so shoot me some builds or idea, greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

Search around the forums. this is probably the most common question.

(edit, sorry if this sounded disrespectful, didnt mean it like that. Just saying that quickly you could find a general build idea then ask specific questions)

well, i guess i was kinda wrong.
I spoke before i acted.
couldnt find much with a quick search.


In that 1000, do you need OS, Keyboard Mouse, Monitor?

Basic outline:

Intel Quad Core
4 GB of Ram
ATI 3870 or nVidia 8800 GT


Not sure on the specifics of 45 nms but i believe they will be commming out in around 2 months.

nah i have an os disc for vista home premium, and a wireless mouse and keyboard from walmart is fine for me

Theres a nice looking rig for around 1000.
You may not want exactly that but its something to go off of.

Power Supply- OCZ GameXStream

Precessor- AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400

GPU- EVGA 8800GTS 640MB

Hard Drive- Seagate Barracuda 500GB

RAM- CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 of these. making 4 gigs total)

Disk Drive- SAMSUNG CD/DVD RW

Case- Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower

TOTAL: approximately $1125 after rebates

I couldn't let you buy a computer without exposure to AMD

plus i love putting these lists together

Ignore this computer...its AMD. You want an Intel Core 2 Duo or Quad. He's also suggesting you buy an 8800GTS 640mb..which is outdated compared to the similarly priced 8800GTS 512Mb(its better, search it up) or the 8800GT which isn't far off of it for alot cheaper.
