i just got done ordering these speakers
http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4174176 i was wondering since its a 2.1 sound system, do i need a special sound card?? if anyone could help it would be greatly appreicated the sound device i currently have is soundMAX Digital Audio is that a bad sound device?? thanks again in advance =] |

2.1 speakers don't need a special sound card, as long as the one you have has a line-out port for speakers (usually green).

You don't need one for 2.1 sound. You may need a sound card for 5.1 sound, but it depends on your intergrated sound card.

i just got those speakers in today and the left one doesent work.
ive checked the wiring to the sub, and all the speaker settings/balance when i move the balance to the right it stays the same but when i move it to the left nothing but the sub plays. its so weird. my last speakers did this same thing but the left speaker would only play so loud. (not loud at all) what should i do?? is it my computer?? i have a dell dimension 2300. i think ive had it for about 5 years or more. the mic on the wired remote... i cant even get that to work.. thanks alote if anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it. thanks again |

you don;t need a separat sound card for your 2.1 channel speakers.......

It's either a dodgy wire or the soundcard's had it. Plug the speakers into an ipod or cd player to check they work properly, and make sure all connections a tight. Still no improvement, then plug some headphones directly into your soundcard output and check if both sides work (you'll have to turn the volume down in windows first or it'll blow your head off)
