hey mate i dont know if this will help but as long as your running vista 32bit it is possible firstly make sure your printer is shared on your xp machine and also make sure the vista printer sharing eature is enabled which you will find in the network sharing centre once that is done go to control panel on your vista machine then to the printer section im using classic view in the top left hand corner there will be a tab that says "add Printer" click on it then choose "add network, wireless or bluetooth printer" it should try and detect your shared printer automatically if it doesn't click on printer wasnt in the list then type \\yourxpmachinesname\yoursharedprintersname and it should be pretty simple from there if you have any trouble just post a reply and i will quite happily hand out the knowledge

Do you have Norton on there? If you do, take it off, then try it.

yeah agreed with Knoddy, on vista just go to "start--> then type "run" in the search box, execute run and type "\\name of XP pc " ,"right-click" the printer then "connect" and done.

Well, I'm having the same exact problem. I did all this and the vista laptop still can not find my printer. Any other ideas?
