lately when i restart/start my computer i encounter odd delays loading my startup items on the task tray.
2 items would load: the volume control and realtek hd audio manager. then windows pauses for about 1 minute before loading everything else: kerio personal firewall, nod32, airlink 101 wireless control (used for my pci wifi). when checking task manager nothing eats up a lot of cpu. using process explorer i don't see any hanging applications. the computer just pauses for some reason. any clues why? thanks.

Well obviously you've recently installed some audio hardware if I'm not wrong.
So means that software has put itself on startup, nothing serious you can easily move it from startup. Go to Start>Run>msconfig>press Enter>startup tab>now find that 2 items you don't want to load when rebooting, and check them. Next, click ok, and reboot your computer.

well the realtek audio is part of the integrated audio of the motherboard and was there since the beginning of the installation (after installing drivers). i do want to keep those 2.
normally when startup items load they use cpu or when in task manager you'd see that item load and use some cpu. in my case it just stalls and sits there. the hd doesn't make a noise... it's almost as if the computer is idling. no cpu cycling for about a minute. after that timeframe everything else loads. that's what i'm curious about. my wild guess is that it's the wifi card. anybody have one? perhaps before it loads it tries to connect to my router so it takes it's time?

Go into Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance then Admin Tools. Click on Event Viewer and look for any events marked in red. These will show any events on startup that had difficulty.
