Default Which is the best?

I am looking for a new computer for gaming purposes and by that I mean one that runs WoW fairly well ^.^ I would like to have it under a price range of $500 and am wondering what is the better of the two processors,
Athlon
Intel 4000 series

I have also looked into purchasing the following computer brands and wonder what is the best name.
HP
Compaq
Gateway
Dell

I have decided on at least 1 gig of ram and a 160 gigabyte hard drive and of course need a wireless broad-band card. Which computer package would you suggest for a price range of under $500. Help would be appreciated.

Intel 4000 series if you expect to overclock. If you are sticking to stock, then the Athlon X2's would be better(only the higher up ones like 5000+ and over)

Do you want a pre build? Or are you happy to build yourself?

I am looking for a pre-built. Any suggestions on which company to get it from?

I'd go Dell... although HP is great too.
