Default Whats the best Version of Linux( switching from vista ultimate)

Hey guys, im on vista ultimate, and i wanna switch to linux, whats the best version, thats free of course.

Depends on your needs, What are you gonna do with it?
If you want something that is Vista like in the looks check out the new Ubuntu 7.10 "Gutsy Gibbon".

There is also a distro called 'Vixta' that is nearly identical Vista. Personally, I had the most luck with Ubuntu Studio, but any Ubuntu distro really is very user friendly.

start with Ubuntu. I suggest also trying the various Fedora realeses, I use Fedora 7 for all my school work and its pretty simple, setting up dual head was a bit of a pain though.

ok guys, i partitioned my hard rive, and i have vista ultimate still and ubuntu 7.10, but i cant get my wirless router to work on it, any tips?

Wireless funkiness is a known issue with many Linux distros. Go to ubuntuforums.com and look in their Networking area - you'll probably get a much quicker solution as they deal with it all the time.

i dont personally use linux, but i considered it before so i asked several people. majority recommened Ubuntu.
