Default Windows Vista

Will Windows Vista run ok on 1GB RAM and a 3.0GHz processor? It is a computer from PC World and I would prefer to have XP but unfortunatly it only comes with Vista.

2 gig is really the minimum for Vista. It will run on 1 gig, but very very poorly.

It will run just fine on 1GB. I've only had oh... I dunno... About a dozen laptops in the past month running Vista on 1 GB and a Centrino Duo... Something like that. It will be fine.

Windows Vista will run for more efficiently with a dual core processor than with a single core processor.

It will run, but it won't be great.

my thinkpad is a Centrino Duo (c2d) but vista struggles, i have only 1gb ram, and i agree with paratwa, i guess the minimum for performance is 2gb, even if my laptop is vista capable.

Why is it struggling? It shouldn't be. Do you have lots of things running?

Yes you can run Vista on just 1GB of RAM, although if you try to game and/or run lots of apps at once, your system will slow down quite a bit.

for the daily day to day tasks it's ok but once i start photoshop, the lag starts, and if i run CS3 with VMware together, it brings down my system, but my dell (sig) handles the load of CS3, VMWARE and ACROBAT 8.
probably i should get another stick for my lappy

cheers
