the first case is an excellent case. for $40 you can't really beat it.

I would definatly go with the Centurion 5 case, my friend had it and it was very nice. And adding that it's usualy much less painless in long term when you buy with a well known brand such as CM.

Either are fine. I've heard great reviews about them. Although I don't really believe in rebates...

If you like the Centurion 5, look at the Elite 330 too.

the best part about the case is the mesh front. blocks most dust but really a lot of cool air will go through the case to cool off the components. in fact, there is a "computer case 101" sticky (or something to that extent) and that case is #1 on the author's mid-tower pick list. i have one and love it (although mine has no clear side).

i also don't give a damn about rebates. i have heard multiple people complain that CM does not honor their rebates on their cases. don't know if that's true, but i've heard it. i think i've gotten 2 rebates back out of ~10 or so i've ever filled out in my lifetime. heh, i even bought a samsung blackjack through cingular back in april with a $75 mail-in rebate. did the rebate form that day, sent it in. 6 weeks was how long it was supposed to take. got a letter in the mail in october from samsung:

"your rebate has been processed and you will receive your check within 3 weeks."

never got it.

one other thing--i absolutely HATE cases that have a front door on the panel. i just find it horribly inconvinient to open a case every time i need to put a cd in the drive. a lot of the cases with doors also are on a spring, so the door will try to close itself. this is a nuissance whenever you are trying to open your cd rom drive but it keeps hitting the door. so i would opt out on getting the 2nd case for that reason alone.

Front case doors suck, and so do rebates. Although I've only had a few rebates dishonored (none from CM), the whole idea of waiting up to three months for my money is generally unappealing.

Yeah, both cases do look good and it's really a matter of personal preference.

I've never owned a case with a front door, but it looks like it would be a PITA.
