I bought a used Buffalo router from ebay long ago and I connect it to the internet right away. It does not come with manual booklet.
I heard that you must reset the router if buying it used... as the previous owner has some ports open which will cause security issues. I am a super low-end user.... How do I reset my router? how do I know if my router are safe? |

Hello!
Use this site http://www.yougetsignal.com/openPortsTool/ to find out which ports are open. You can then tell about the results here. If you are still concerned about being Hijacked, please post your HijackThis lol here and some1 will examine it. Cheers!

Plug in the router, on the back there will be a little button and it will say "Reset" above it. Use a pen of something and press it and hold it for 15 seconds.

Yes Motorxrdude, that's the way to reset it...But why?
We didn't determine is it unsafe yet...

it does not matter. We dont need to know what ports the other user had open, we just want to return it to factry defaults and let him set it up himself

Also is it ok to check on my computer that is not the primary? but it does has the same network. Do I type in my IP address? or do I leave it as default? it already have numbers in there. when reset the router.... do I have to config everything all over before I can go in the internet again? or once its reset.... it sno hassle to get on internet.... jus plug and play straight on internet? That one shows your current IP. You check for vulnerabilities on that IP.
