Default Recently upgraded from Vista to XP

Well, there are a lot of people around asking about vista vs XP, should they upgrade or should they stick with XP. I found this article a few weeks ago on /. so some of you may have already read this, but nevertheless.... it is a good article on why this guy "upgraded" his computer from Vista to XP

http://dotnet.org.za/codingsanity/ar...indows-xp.aspx

An excerpt from the article...

Quote:
I have finally decided to take the plunge. Last night I upgraded my Vista desktop machine to Windows XP, and this afternoon I will be doing the same to my laptop.

Look & Feel

Windows XP has quite a cartoony look and feel compared to the slick look of Aero Glass; this is mostly offset by the lack of strange screen artifacts caused by malfunctioning graphics code. You know, almost like static on the screen. This was a once or twice monthly occurrence on my laptop, and happened on my desktop whenever I logged in, and also whenever I played a 3D game after leaving Vista running for a couple of hours. I also miss the "orphaned windows" I got on Vista, dialog boxes that would not go away, in a sense they became part of the desktop, since you could drag a selection from within them, despite the fact that the Glass would render the selection below them. Such crazy graphics bugs appear to be a thing of the past...

I personally got quite a kick out of the article... hopefully you all will too.

Right but no one is going to literally "UPGRADE" from Vista to XP. It's like a lot of people have been saying. XP has been the comfortable 5th gear for so long and the general public doesn't like the change of an upgrade. Everyone will use Vista eventually, just wait.

i've seen several benchmarks proving xp runs games better and the functionality of it is all around better. i believe it. but yeah, once microsoft works out the bugs, if they do, vista may be a better OS. until then i think the majority of the people who own it only do so because they only *think* it's better because it *is* an upgrade from xp.

I'll use XP until it is mandatory that you run Vista.

Well what about for gamers. DX10 cards cannot be utilized on by XP. For all the gamers out there, Vista is better.

I'd second that, not being biased, but I've used both and currently have Vista installed now, I prefer it over XP... but that's just my opinion, it's neither right or wrong.
