The 650i chipset runs cooler but only runs the PCI-E slots at 16x and 8x in SLi, the 680i chipset runs a lot hotter (heatsink often needs a fan) but both PCI-E slots run at x16. The 650i is a very good midrange chipset while the 680i is an enthusiasts chipset.

The eVGA and BFG board are very similar boards, I'd go for the eVGA though as their warranty is excellent indeed.
