What could be wrong? I plug the camera's USB cable in the computer, the found hardware baloon pops up and after a while it says that it was unable to install the driver for it because "class installer has denied the request to install".
That problem appeared suddenly, this camera worked fine until a couple of days ago... (the camera is HP Photosmart 318 and I have WinXP SP2) |

Try uninstalling the camera and reinstalling it?

Virus / spyware / adware scan found nothing, so my system is crystal clear...
The system restore didn't work. In fact I can't even remember when the camera was used last time, and some days ago I run out of disk space on C:, so when cleaning up the disk I kept only the most recent restore point...

I've never connected my cameras via their cables. Go out and get yourself a card reader and plug your memory card into that. Never had an issue
