Default Internet speed vs. wireless range extender?

Id like to know if internet speed can be improved by adding a range extender to the wirless signal - it would increase my wireless signal strength from "very week" to (hopefully) "excellent"...a second option might be to add another modem. I have RoadRunner. Do they typically do that kind of thing???

Cant add another modem. Yes the signal strength being increased will make your connection faster.. OR make it wired.
