Well, I've decided that it is finally time to upgrade from my old NAD Compact Disc Player and Receiver that I bought in 1989. I was looking at Best Buy, Circuit City, Etc... And their prices are crazy! I need somewhere I can buy Speakers, A Reciever, A Subwoofer, and cables for cheap. Thanks guys.

I like to look at Crutchfields website to get information about those types of items, I even buy from them from time to time.
They do not always have the best prices, but their documentation and reviews are outstanding. Then once you have found something you want, shop around online for better prices. www.crutchfield.com |

My own two cents on this whole issue is that if you know what you're doing, vintage gear from the 70's sounds a whole lot better and is built better than the disposable BPC (Black Plastic Crap) that's been sold since around 1984 or so. My amplifier is from 1977 and the turntable (yes, I spin vinyl) is from 1980. The only newer parts are the CD player (1997) and the speakers (1996).
Most new stereo gear is sold at places like Best Buy or Circuit City because real stereo-only equipment dealers have pretty much died off thanks to home theater. This is why older vintage 2-channel gear is still in high demand among people who just want great music reproduction. You may not think buying 70's gear is an upgrade, but believe me, if you really care about music, it is! More than half the fun is looking for the right components to put together a really killer system for cheap. It CAN be done! Tom

Yard sales are just one place to unearth stereo treasures!
Flea markets Older neighbors with attics Estate sales Salvation Army St. Vincent de Paul Goodwill Craigslist and of course, eBay, if you know pretty much what you want. Gotta be careful here, though. Some people are great sellers, others are out and out crooks. There are forums out there as well where this stuff's discussed, for lots more info and help regarding searching and occasional repairs. ![]() Tom
