that area gives us both the movies out right now to preview the new zelda game (looks amazing) It also gives us the key not speach given by nintendo's president. And another interview. The revolution will be going online wirelessly (and it will be free, nintendo always ahs and still wants cheap gaming, and it will be compatible with the ds). the revolution will also be backwards compatible with the gamecube. A little summary of the hour long key note speech (some cool points made): something i enjoyed was i believe xbox and sony were talking about how power is the wave of the future and that is why their system is going to be so much better (something along thsoe lines, in their speeches they talked about their procs a lot. Not sure if it was jsut xbox or sony as well that did that). And Nintedo's response was, even when we started we knew eventually games would one day get to a point where they just won't advance anymore. If you are basing your sales off of proc power, what are you going to do then? A game is fun if you can feel some emotion while playing it, if you connect with the cahracters, if you are surprised, affectionate, you laugh, you cry etc. Gamers also enjoy challenge and reqard and nintendo said they try to make their games appealing to all skill lvls of players. Also ever since they started they said that gamers enjoy fun, creative games. you may not have all the capabilites that we do in the real world and the graphics are limiting so ti si their job to use that and find some way to be creative so you lose the focus of what you could do and you just enjoy what you can do. They are also proud of the fact that their system hold its own with completely original and made up franchises like mario, star fox, metroid etc and not game like spiderman, NFL, etc that weren't creative original ideas, more just oh people like that sport or movie lets mooch money off it. What do you think is going to happen when games get to the point where they can't advance anymore graphically? Will some people stop playing them? I say this because i knwo a few people who jsut look at a game and go "woah it has great grpahics, im buying that!". pretty sure if you look around they have the stuff from microsoft and sony on the site as well. EDIT NOTE NEW!: Something else (currently watching key note ) this was an interesting point nintendo brought up. Isn't it about time for a new genre of video game? Wehn was the last tiem a new one was made? Even within the genres i think we all can see that even they themselves are nto advancing at this point. The heroes, stories, villians are all starting to look alike. What do you think? And does this mean maybe nintendo has something up their sleeve? I knwo they are trying desperately right now to come up with many great new innovative styles of ways to gameplay and supposedly the revolution is going to help them do this. Also the donkey konga controlller is an example of a mroe recent thing they have tried. What are your ideas, what do you think should be done?
