i have the OS currently installed in an IDE that is set on master. i just bought a SATA hard drive and i want it as a storage HD only. how can i set it as slave if i don't want to boot from it since there are no jumpers?

You just set your IED drive as the boot drive in the bios

yea, sata doesn't use a slave/master system like ide did. it should be fine if you just plug in the sata and set the ide as the boot drive in the bios. Windows should then see the IDE as drive C and once formatted the sata will be drive D by default (or some other letter if d is already taken)

ok here's another thing. i partitioned 10GB from the 160GB SATA to install an OS to have as backup just in case my main HD stops working. i don't ever plan to use this OS, but every time i boot, it shows the screen of letting me pick which OS to run.

how do i disable this screen and only boot from my original OS as default every time? i already when in the BIOS set first boot device to HD, second boot to CD, and disabled everything else. i already decreased the timeout in msconfig, but i still don't want that one extra screen when booting
