Yeah, sorry man, I know linux can be a pain! And having to do something like this the very first time your boot linux can be bery discouraging. The tutorial though should just give you a copy+paste ability to get it working.

Oh this isn't the first time I've used Linux...Over the past few months I've probably installed Ubuntu around 15 times, and EVERY ONE of those times, something would go wrong. (usually drivers for my ati card). I tried tutorials/help from forums but nothing ever worked and I gave up. I decided today that I wanted to give it another shot (everyone deserves a 16th chance...haha).

I close xserver, and start the driver install put it says something to the effect of "No compiled kernel matches" or some crap like that...????

When I type "uname -r" it says "2.6.22-14-rt" and his said the same thing but with the word "generic".....do I note have the "generic" kernel or something? (I'm waaaay confused).

I'm sure it does as it is pretty much accepted everywhere. And brian, are you sure the 8800gt is supported out of the box with FC8?

O btw, head over to http://www.ubuntuforums.org, they will probably be much more help then we could ever be.

Okay this is the error I get:

"No precompiled kernel interface was found to match your kernel."

and then the driver installation exits.
