Default no audio playback?

Hey guys, i recently formatted my pc with windows xp home edition. i installed a new (working) sound card and installed the software and drivers for it as well....however when i try to play any music files i cannot hear any audio, and the bar is moving at the bottom (in wmp)...?

any ideas?

oh and no the volume is not on mute, hehe....and the speakers and sound card does work on other pc's

Are there any programs that came with the Card (Realtek) Sometimes you need to set up your speaker configuration in there first

If you know the sound card works, if you know the slot its in is not defective and you know you have the right drivers and installed them right and get no sound then 90% of the time people have there speakers plugged into the wrong port

When you say you installed a new sound card, did you remove another or was it onboard? If it was onboard, have you disabled the old one(preferably in the bios) or selected the new card as the primary audio device?
