Default Comp crashes randomly, Must Wait 10 mins to restart

Ok well ever since I've had my comp (a couple months) I've had this problem where after a few hours, whether it's 2 or maybe 7 or so hours, it will just crash on me. The weird thing is i have to wait before i turn it back on, and after so many of these and on a daily basis, I always wait 10 mins, cuz if i wait like 3 it will usually just crash before it gets to the windows logo on startup....so yeah lol i actually have to wait a certain amount of time to restart it successfully.

I had this problem on my original hard drive, then used a new one to see if i could fix the problem, but to no avail, the same thing happens on the new one.

I'm on a Gateway GT5224, running Windows XP Media Center Edition with service pack 2. I had 1G of ram come with the comp, and I've added another stick it's now 1.5G, and yes the RAM is totally compatible, and with the RAM and Hard drive basically crossed out, is this a motherboard problem?

Any help is very much appreciated, It would cost quite some cash for a pro to troubleshoot my computer..

(If this is in the wrong section i'm sorry!) I didnt' know where else i could put it..

Yes, exactly the same sh*t happened to me. Your motherboard is dying, but to me, motherboard took my hard disk drive to hell also...on old computer.
I mean no cure, you will have to buy new comp. At least the case, no point in buying a new motherboard or sth.

A strong possibility of it being heat related, whether it's the GPU or CPU. Try to monitor and post some temps. Were you stressing the computer at the time of crash?

I just worked on my familys computer. Had the tower sitting on floor. Ive done it many times and every year. Disconnect and take the tower outside for a good blowjob with a can of static free air. It works fine. the power supply was clogged and the cpu fan was almost froze up.

Make sure you kiss it afterwards!

Crashes like that sound like heat related issues to me as well.

It could be a PSU problem.
