Default Partitioned HD??

I read a post talking about this but I'm not sure what it means exactly. What does it mean to partition a HD?

it basically means to split the hard drive up
a hard drive needs to be partitioned before you can put anything on it

a lot of times, most people just make one main partition

from my understanding of it though, it's safer to do more then one
like if there's a problem on one partition, so it somehow loses all the datat, generally you still can get the stuff off the other partitions

I always have 2 partitions.

Right now I have a 160GB -- 50GB Main and 110GB secondary, This is great becuase It makes reformating a snap. Just store all the downloads in the secondary and only installs in the Main.

Yes although you'll need 3rd party programs to do so without losing that data (like PartitionMagic for instance)
