Default Macbook good enough or go pro?

Roomate is getting a laptop to be used for pretty basic tasks, like e-mail, chat, hold pictures, surf net and probably use the mac office program. Would the low budge. macbook be sufficient enough or is it worth forking out $$ for the macbook pro.

i would say pay the extra to get the pro, that way if he ever needs to upgrade for anything he will have already upgraded and not have to try and sell his macbook before buying the pro

Ya, good point but pretty big price difference. Although spending over $1000 and not having what u need would b worse. Would there b a noticable difference in the performance to the average person.
Thanks for the reply, I know these types of questions are played to death but it is very helpful to the unknowing!

from what i understand about the macs is that they are better notebooks than almost anything, but i hear that there is a big difference as far as the regs and the pros go, i think that its just the bells and whistles, but i could be wrong, just look at all the specs and everything thats compatible
