Hello.
Right now I have a very standard and cheap Belkin router. Tiny grey router, with 4 CAT5/ethernet ports, and a wireless connection. Ive had it for about two years now, and now its giving me some problems. Specially when downloading torrents, it will just die, and sometimes after reconnecting the router, it connects instantly, and other times it takes hours for it to finally start working again. Also, its been giving me tons of trouble with any port forwarding and static connections I try to set up for connecting to games or trying to host a server for games. Mainly on ports 28000-29000, cause some other ports will open up fine. Ive tried dynamic port forwarding, regular static ip, setting my comp into dmz, and it just will not do it. I searched before making this thread and went through the first few pages, but didn't read anything that would fully answer my question. I need a router that wont crap out on me on long/large downloads, and gives full capabilities for port forwarding, and has a wireless connection for my dads laptop or when I have some friends come over with their laptops. I have Comcast cable internet. The Comcast modem I have is just a modem, not a modem/router combo. From there it goes into the Belkin Router, and I have one cable going to my comp, my sisters comp, and to my dads comp, and then the wireless internet for whoever. Pretty simple setup. What do you recommend? |

Linksys WRT54G. I have one and have never had a problem with it. My friend had a belkin and died within a few months.

I have a netgear router with a wireless gateway and it works great. And it was about $12 cheaper than the links.
