Default Is this worth it?

Is this RAM any good?

Team Dark 2x1GB DDR2 800MHz CL4
http://www.pccasegear.com/prod5549.htm

Should I go for 2GB or 4GB? I don't have a 64-bit operating system as of yet but I will be upgrading to Vista Ultimate 64-bit in the near future (possibly a dual boot)

Thanks

Yeah, it's probably good but really expensive. We can get similar RAM for 1/3 to 1/4 the price here in the states.

THIS was a deal if you don't mind mail-in rebates, but the rebates end today, so it's a little late.

There's no shortage of cheaper stuff on newegg: LIKE THIS But you'll sacrifice quality/performance.

Ohh... didn't notice you're in Australia...never mind.

You could pay for international shipping...

International shipping is rarely worth it especially to austrailia. Canada to the US or vise versa isn't too bad but anything overseas and the cost of shipping is brutal.

If you think about it, $99 AUS isn't that bad for 2GB of RAM. 2GB of DDR2-800 @ CAS4 runs what, about $40, in the US?

yes, being a fellow melbournian i suffer the same problem. do you live anywhere near either of the CPL (Computer and Parts Land). They seem to be the cheapest around melbourne (at least that i can find) check out www.cpl.net.au and see if you're near the stores and check out their green guide

Edit: I just checked the greenguide and they don't actually have that model RAM.

Edit again: come to think of that, it's cheap and if pc case gear accepted paypal i'd probably get myself some as well

I live nowhere near the city and I don't even know where Notting Hill is lol

I think MSY is cheaper though (not as big a range I don't think but thye do the job) Centre Com is also pretty good and they're both near to me... unfortunately, PCCG is in oakleigh and I live nowhere near there

notting hill is near clayton. it's near my dad's work so i go in with him sometimes to get stuff. I'm not sure about MSY, I need to have a look, I've also heard they're cheaper.

Clayton.... nowhere near me... MSY is cheaper but their service is horrible (my experiences) and they don't have that big a range... Centre Com is your best bet... a tad more expensive (like a few dollars literally) but they have much more to chose from and better customer service. PCCG, slightly mopre expensive again but a huge range when it comes to accessories and other parts... I am buyign my main parts (Case, CPU, Mobo...etc) from Centre Com and then extra stuff (fans, sound card, GPU - they stock EVGA , LEDs and so on...)
