Default Reselling Windows Vista

I purchased Windows Vista Home Basic Upgrade at Best Buy. I installed it and then activated it over the internet. If I resell this copy on ebay, will the person who buys it be able to use it?

Nope.

Its been installed and attached to your motherboard, it cant be installed on any other computer (And even reinstalling on the same computer is a pain in that you have to call up microsoft).

Second note, who would buy basic?!

The reason that the other person can't buy it is because the software can be only activated once and not again so the other person would have to buy a serial key. At the same price as buying the disc pack so why bother!

Vista Basic is fine for most users, I bought it for my laptop as I didnt want the premium.

I installed Vista Basic on my wife's computer, I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. Why bother over-paying for something as bloated as Ultimate?

For the record, I ran Vista Ultimate (Trial) for 5 months (re-installed after 3 months), and it's decent, at best.. I see no real 'upgrade' from Basic. All of the visual effects can be had by using WindowBlinds and other StarDock products, and BitLocker was useless to me, maybe for some people it's worth it?

----

As for the OP, the others are correct.. you cannot use that on another computer, because you've already registered the serial.

Someone could install the upgrade, without using a serial, but the upgrade would 'expire' after 30 days (120, if you know how to re-arm).. and nobody is going to be dumb enough to pay for an upgrade they can't use forever

Yes you can. It's a retail box version. If it was OEM version that would be different.

Yes you can install it on another computer, but only 1 at a time!
From Microsoft

If you acquire Windows Vista via retail purchase (boxed product), it may only be installed on one computer at a time. You may choose to uninstall Windows Vista from the initial computer and install it on another computer. You will then be required to re-activate that copy of Windows on the new computer.

I'm under the assumption that the OP has no intention of removing it from their computer, which is why I replied with what I did
