ha ha. The value of Facebook, i.e. what a business would pay for the company, has been estimated in the $2-3 Billion range. If Microsoft had truly invested in the company, they would have gained much more than 1.6%. More like 7.6%.

yeah i guess i got beat to the punch, bill gates invested into 1.6% of that company, which means that microsoft values it at 15 billion dollars.

actually more that $15bn. Just coz they paid $250k for 1.6 doesnt mean the company is valued at $250k/1.6*100=£15,000k. 1.6 is a minority holding so is valued as such

for example the difference in cost between buying 49% instead of 51% is a lot more that 2%.

Id value Facebook at that time more around £18-21bn as a full sale.

About a year ago, the founder of Facebook appeared on the Charlie Rose show. Then, they were throwing around the $2-3 Billion (USD) figure. That company is growing fast!

That is true, but it's just a fad. Before they know it Facebook and MySpace won't be cool anymore, and most people will switch to something new that just came out.

and calling facebook a 'google killer' is stupid, i know what they mean, but facebook relies on people telling you, google is instant, i dont think there is any comparison.

even though i do get frustrated with google sometimes, i ask for a forum and it gives me 4 million responses and no forums
