Angry comp slowing down

i'm a very impatient person and i just got over an BSoD issue, i saw the blue b**** 7 more times then i needed to. my comp is clean, and i just reaplied thermal grease and got some better ram....better company, but same specifications as old....went from patriot ddr2 pc6400 2gb kit....to a kingston hyperx ddr2 pc6400 2gb kit... Call it whatever you want but i love the first Halo game, it ran on my first machine. let me tell u the requirements for halo:combat evolved
* Microsoft® Windows® 98SE/Me/XP/2000
* PC with 733 MHz equivalent or higher processor
* 128 MB of system RAM
* 1.2 GB available hard disk space
* 8x speed or faster CD-ROM drive
* 32 MB T&L capable video card required
* Sound card, speakers or headphones required for audio
* Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
* 56.6 Kbps or better modem or LAN for online play; broadband to run a server

i have 3.0ghz cpu no oc...and the game is glitching...plz help...is it mal-spy-adware? or a virus or something...my scans show nothing...

Go to run->msconfig then go to startup,
see are there a lot of programs running when the computer boots up,
these could slow your PC?Update your antivirus, defragment if necessary

Want it faster? Download the newest service packs, defrag your disk, delete junk files, empty your recycle bin and delete unwanted registry files.
