Weather =/= whether

What I thought.. Is that Canada refuses to act as the MPAA and RIAA's dog, and will not personally prosecute File-sharer's of that nature. They allege that file-sharing of any kind is legal if done only for personal use*. But recording studios and copyright holders can still target people in Canada(maybe not for music), they just can't recruit Canadian police to do all their dirty work.

If he had said he wanted to know how to do it on someelses machine Id have more reservations about it.
Its clear when its illegal

Its not p2p per say, but more if it is suspected they are downloading illegal media via p2p, if someone says "how to a get a p2p distro" then its probably ok.
It may seem like semantics but I feel its important to set guidelines so as to prevent a overall slide. Its like the proverbial line in the sand, if we let the line move slightly each time sooner or later you won be able to see where we started

Im not sure either, if you're interest I can look it up

also to points out, these rules are not new. There has been no "change" to the rules. It has always been this way

Yeah, I refer to them as new rules (probably shouldn't) because you clarified them lately

webbenji you shouldnt post in corrupt threads like that guy asking about a copy of COD. Just report it and use the "Report Post" thread.

OK, I would like a cut clear definition of what is allowed and what is not allowed. Torrents and P2P is not illegal at all, except when you use it to violate copyright law. Open source software which is free is distributed this way. Limewire is the biggest piece of crap software anyway. In fact anyone who uses it I wouldn't even bother helping because they are at a huge security risk running it, not to mention that it is filled with spyware and viruses.

Networking, port forwarding, I think you cleared this up. I need to access my PC at home from work via remote desktop. Well, you'll need to forward port 3389 to your PC from your router or it won't work. This type of stuff is OK is what I am getting.

However, what is to stop someone from just making things up to get what they need to know? I admire the fact you are actually trying to up hold the rules, but in all honesty I don't think it will stop those discussions. So it basically comes down to how the moderators interpret the conversation. Which is fine by me, and they don't get paid for this so I think its fine.
