Over the top Pc Spec? Or Future Proof System?

I'm going to build the following pc, I don't upgrade, or actually touch my pc once it's built and like to make sure its completely up-to-date with the latest technology before shelling out loads of cash for it! I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or knows anywhere to get the system for less? I'm in Northern Ireland btw so shipping is pretty expensive.

ANTEC P182 CASE

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS4 MOTHERBOARD

CORE 2 QUAD EXTREME QX9650 PROCESSOR

2 X WD Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB SATA 10KRPM 16MB Cache

I'm looking into liquid cooling.

Without it the system comes to ₤2120

So any suggestions or help? Or any problems? I know that I was told that this processor and certain RAM configs caused the system to refuse to boot.
Any info back on this is MUCH appreciated as its the most i've ever spent on a new pc. Cheers!

Well, the RAM doesn't really justify the rest of the system. If you're going for top of the line, you might as well get 4GB of ram, especially when it doesn't cost that much. And I wouldn't really get an 8800GTX. With the money of a GTX, you can probably almost get SLI 8800GT's, which will be much better.

2 raptors? Why? Are you planning on running them in a Raid config? If so it would be a waste. Running 2 regular 7200 rpm drives would be a good thing in raid, but since you will not get much of a performance boost with 2 raptors in raid it would be a waste.

Spending big $ on a blue ray right now is not that great of an idea. Since the standards wars are not over between HDdvd and Blueray, you might be spending that money on something that will be going away soon.

The seagate 1TB barracuda is a better drive than the Hitachi.

and upgrade the OS to 64-bit version of Vista so it'll utilize all 4 gigs of RAM.

ditch the gtx unless you are going to have a very large screen

Get 8800GTS 512MB (G92) because it performs almost as good as 8800GTX but for a cheaper price

Seems like you have a big budget, i would ditch one of the hard drives,get extra ram (4Gb)

Sorry guys, I should of added a bit more info come to think of it.
The computer is used to edit HD Video and for audio editing. It also streams out an internet radio station 24/7 so is very rarely turned off.
A lot of the applications I use don't support 64bit and therefore 32 is my only option for now.

Perhaps 3GB of RAM is a good option? At least windows can utilize all of it.

In the raptors area, I have to stick with 2 of them. RAID I'm still not to sure about.
I've done a fair bit of research into the "Seagate 1TB barracuda" drive you mentioned. But the hitachi still seems much higher quality. Although I'd of said the same as you before Segate bought maxtor, who make quite frankly the worst hard-drives in existance. I know from experience.

Blu-ray is deff the way everything is going, But this is supports reading of both formats and thats good enough for me

As for screen size, I'm going for a Samsung SM245B 24" LCD. Regarding the graphics card choices, I'm pretty sure SLI would only help in games, and not in general usage?

Finally, I was thinking about home premium but with the added security of my data on ultimate with a service pack of speed upgrading goodies eminent, I might have to stick with it
